Does this happen with phonon-xine backend, too?
Fluyendo plugin to play mp3 doesn't work with xine, so it doesn't play at all.
I have just ripped two songs to ogg, and they play well with xine backend, and
switching from one to the other, ad also between the wav files that I also
included in amarok, all goes well, although it also sometimes takes a while to
play. Last test with pulseaudio enabled as the preferred sound device it went
all well, no problem to switch back and forth between the songs (with xine
backend and ogg and wav files.)
So yes, it seems related to gstreamer. When I play the same ogg files with the
gstreamer backend enabled, there is along delay between the songs.
I assumed rhytmbox uses gestreamer being a gnome app, and that plays well, very
quick to start each song when switching back and forth.
