http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=539170 Summary: Yast2 option to mount Windows shares Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Factory Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: bugzilla@go4more.de QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; de; rv:1.9.1.2) Gecko/20090730 SUSE/3.5.2-122.3 Firefox/3.5.2 I'd like to have a working Yast2 tool to mount Windows shares the "unix-way" (with pathname). Yes, the desktop environments provide tools to handle the "smb://"-protocol, but this only works within the respective desktop environment. There are programs (e.g. Amarok!) which won't work this way and need an Unix-style path. There is a Yast2 module called "yast2-samba-client", which - hidden under "expert options" - seems to offer a way to permanently mount server shares. However, I never ever got this working. I can enter paths and servers, but the configuration is not even saved. Maybe I misinterpreted this tool and it is only good for AD stuff? If yes, I'd like to have an enhanced config tool for "simple" smb-shares, too. Having to edit /etc/fstab for this seems old-fashioned.
