http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=535434 Summary: B43 wireless module not loading properly on reboot Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Milestone 6 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: wamrfixit@hotmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US) AppleWebKit/532.0 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/4.0.203.0 Safari/532.0 Broadcom BCM 4312 wireless. Normally to get this card working I simply copy the firmware into /lib/firmware/b43, reload the b43 module and the light goes blue and wireless works perfectly. In milestone 6, I use the same procedure and wireless again works perfectly until I reboot. On reboot the light stays orange (meaning hardware disabled). To make it work I have to reload the b43 module several times, and finally it works. Never seen this problem before, very odd! It is NOT a connection problem, but more of a driver/firmware/kernel module issue because once the device is enabled (blue light), I can connect to the wireless network and it runs perfectly. Is there something (maybe in Yast) keeping the card disabled? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Relaod the b43 module - modprobe -r b43 then modprobe b43 2. If still not enabled, repeat the steps above. 3. Actual Results: After several module reloads, the device enables and works perfectly Expected Results: Should work on very first module load at boot time -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
