http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=533568 Summary: GNOME Live CD Installer freezes at beginning of install Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Milestone 6 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME AssignedTo: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: kevin.dupuy@opensuse.org QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.1.2) Gecko/20090730 SUSE/3.5.2-2.4 Firefox/3.5.2 After clicking "Accept" and beginning the install process, the live installer window seemed to freeze (all buttons were greyed out with the possible exception of Abort with no notice of what it was doing) for a few minutes before beginning the installation. It may have been partitioning the disk, as after the actual installation began it showed that those functions had been done, but it gives no indication to the user as to whether it was doing anything or not. I thought it had simply frozen, but did not cancel it just to see if it would come back, which it did. If it was partitioning the disk, we need to let the users know that it is doing something. The 11.1 installer had a checklist on screen of what it was doing and a moving progress bar, I think we should go back to that instead of freezing the window for the first part of the install. Reproducible: Didn't try Steps to Reproduce: 1.Open Live Installer 2.Answer all questions and begin installation 3.Wait in anticipation of it doing something. Actual Results: The window simply sat there, doing nothing. No notices as to what it was working on, no progress bars or anything. Expected Results: It should inform the user as to what it is doing (e.g.: "Preparing your disk for installation. Please wait." with a progress bar, as in openSUSE 11.1. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
