http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=530752 Summary: kernel-$flavor-base isn't removed on update Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Factory Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: mmarek@novell.com ReportedBy: mmarek@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de CC: coolo@novell.com, mls@novell.com Found By: --- See fate 307154 The new kernel-$flavor packages contain everything that kernel-$flavor-base contains, so when updating from 11.1, -base should be removed. More precisely: 11.1 -> 11.2 kernel-$flavor + kernel-$flavor-base -> kernel-$flavor only kernel-$flavor-base -> kernel-$flavor-base And idealy if kernel-$flavor is installed and the users selects kernel-$flavor-base, they should get a dependency conflict, suggesting to remove kernel-$flavor (and vice versa). Unfortunatelly all my attempts to solve this via rpm dependencies resulted either in a) zypper dup updating both main and base b) zypper dup updating main even if there was only base previously c) zypper dup trying to update both and complaning that they conflict (if I add a Conflicts:) so I didn't add any obsoletes/conflicts yet, in order not to make it even worse. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
