http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=516076 Summary: Second network interface gets wrong IP address assigned during install (linuxrc) Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jbenc@novell.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- - The machine affected has two network cards. - I started network installation with a typo in the path specified in the install= parameter. Initialization of the first card succeeded using DHCP. The FTP server returned an error, as I made a typo in the installation path. The installation continued with the second card but instead of using DHCP (which would fail anyway, there was no cable connected), it set it to the IP address obtained earlier for the first card. That's wrong, as the second card may be connected to a different network where the settings from the first card doesn't have any sense. Even if it is the same network, it could cause problems as the IP address has been assigned to a different MAC address. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
