http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=512078 Summary: getfacl gives errors for symlinks Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: volker3204@paradise.net.nz QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- getfacl -R . Gives an error like this: getfacl: ./name-of-symlink: No such file or directory for every symlink which does not have a target. This is not really useful. Symlinks have no permissions anyway; getting the symlink target in this situation is of questionable usefulness too. My guess is getfacl always dereferences symlinks, which is about as useful as if ls was doing the same. Perhaps this is because there is no option to prevent symlink-dereferencing?
