http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=511181 Summary: Provide install wizard for flash, moonlight, etc. in Firefox Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Milestone 2 Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: Firefox AssignedTo: bnc-team-mozilla@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: rastislav.krupansky@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Created an attachment (id=296889) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=296889) 1 User-Agent: Opera/9.63 (Windows NT 5.1; U; sk) Presto/2.1.1 Hi. Firefox is unable to find and install flash/gnash (whatever plugins users want to install) plugin as Konqueror does. When i open any web page in Konqueror, which requires flash plugin, Kongueror offers link for opensuse community codecs, or Fluendo codecs. But Firefox doesn´t. I think, it would be great to make a similar wizard also for moonlight. When Firefox detects page with Silverlight, it could offer install wizard for moonlight also. Especially it could be a most problem in Gnome desktop environment, where is Firefox default web browser. New users may not have an idea how to find and install flash plugin, moonlight etc, because these packages aren´t installed from LiveCDs. You can have a look on the attached snapshots, where you can see how this is solved in Ubuntu. It so easy so install flash plugin. According to annoucement by Stephan Kulow, http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-factory/2009-04/msg00296.html i don´t know how the future of Fluendo codecs will be in 11.2. Whether will the link to Fluendo codecs be still offered, or should be removed.
