Still not sure what's going on here.
However, I've found a "formula" that works every time.
1. leaving laptop plugged in, leave it alone for a while. the screensaver will
kick in.
2. wait
3. unplug computer. Do not unlock screen first!
If I do it this way, and I wait long enough (typically hours, but sometimes
much less time than that - minutes or even seconds), it suspends every time.
Maybe 1 in 10 suspends hoses my wireless card (iwl 4965).
This has logic bug written all over it, but so far it *only* happens when the
screensaver is kicked in.
It's getting kind of annoying, and has happened once or twice in a business
context - having to explain that your laptop sometimes suspends itself...
