--- Comment #5 from Michael Andres
(1) i'd been asked, previously, to track/test these pkgs on os11.1 (2) i was informed that these repos are the right repos to be using (3) this 'inconsistent state' has been consistent for -- and reported abt -- now, for at least 5 days
Well those repos are the bleeding edge. Each time a developer checks in a new revision into git/svn, the package is built. And if it also passes the testsuite, it is automatically checked into Zypp:HEAD. Same with YaST::HEAD. There it triggers the rebuild of dependent packages. The stack is roughly like this: satsolver libzypp yast2-pkg-bindings zypper YaST As long as library changes are binary compatible, it usually(!) does not matter if you use an 'old' zypper together with a 'new' libzypp. On incompatible changes you have to wait until the repos are rebuilt. You can't predict how often this happens, and how long it lasts.
specifically, what combination of repos & pkg versions (zypp, libzypp, and aria2 (to use ZYPP_ARIA2C=1) can/should i use so as to have a working system?
Actually I can't tell which versions fit together, but the solver knowns. The repos are the right ones. So if 'zypper up zypper' suggests to deinstall a bunch of packages from the stack, you should assume the repos are inconsistent, and retry later. If zypper suggest to only update packages, it's probably fine. But remember that this is no stable production code, but ongoing development. We don't plan to mess it up because we're using it ourselves, but ... happens. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
