http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=508625 Summary: ipv4/ipv6 choice during install to avoid long "searching for updates" wait time Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Milestone 2 Platform: All OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: pBakhuis@Gmail.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.0.10) Gecko/2009042700 SUSE/3.0.10-3.1 Firefox/3.0.10 I suggest a radiobutton during the installation process with the options ipv6 and ipv4, defaulting to ipv6 (as to avoid 'policy problems'). As it the installation process currently is it will search for updates utilising the internet connection, however it does not offer the option to choose ipv4 anywhere. So if you got an ISP not supporting ipv6 (which seems to be very common, at least in the netherlands) you're staring at an 'searching for updates' screen unnecessarily long. If the option was simply given to select ipv4 earlier during the installation process this could be completely avoided (as well as solve some other bugs/sugggestions if the choice is also carried trough to actual settings once the OS is installed) Reproducible: Always -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
