If it's not in "linux for dummies" we are in trouble. within error msg-- under 'chking sys', all is ok from 'root' down to 'checkingfor binary /mnt/bin/s...passed. at 'trying to chroot... failed. Ubuntu 8.10 had a related problem, it finally decided the ata nd was SATA & wouldn't do anything with it. o-SUSE identified the hdwr ok, format (with changes) seemed to go fine. the Promise Tech controller linux BIOS might be the problem. Sun's VirtualBox install would be next, The parallel hd is necessary for Win 2k/xp, they can't find serial hd's. the win. OS's are must-haves for some things.
