Here's the output of hwinfo --monitor when logged in as user on 11.2:
31: None 00.0: 10000 Monitor
[Created at fb.71]
Unique ID: rdCR.EY_qmtb9YY0
Hardware Class: monitor
Model: "Generic Monitor"
Vendor: "Generic"
Device: "Monitor"
Resolution: 1280x1024@77Hz
Driver Info #0:
Max. Resolution: 1280x1024
Vert. Sync Range: 50-90 Hz
Hor. Sync Range: 31-82 kHz
Config Status: cfg=no, avail=yes, need=no, active=unknown
Not sure where it got this, YaST says the Vert is 50-60 ( I changed it last
night - no change in problem) and Horz is 31 - 64. Monitor selected in all
cases is --> VESA. I looked at my 32 bit version (11.1) and they have an option
for vendor MEI model Panasonic Monitor. The
64 bit versions both 11.1 and 11.2 do not have MEI.
I found my monitors spec. it is a Micron model 900Lx (MEI) 19", 18.0 viewable.
The active image is 360mm x 270mm.
Horizonial Sync 30-95KHz (not sure is K isn't mistake in manual)
Vertical 50-150 Hz
resolution modes 640x480, 720x400, 800x600, 1024x678, 1280x1024 and
1600x1200.
Let me know what else I can do. Is it worth trying to reinstall 11.2? I also
found I cannot resize some windows within the 640x480 window. Example the one
where the sync is set so I cannot properly give it an OK. Is there a file I can
manually change?
Thanks for you continuing help!
I also tried creating a new user and logging on. Same 640x480 screen.
