To remove this library I would I have to downgrade 377 packages from x86-64 to i586 architecture. For some reason the 64 bit packages are made dependent on pulseaudio, the 32 bit packages are not. At least, since I have removed the other pulse packages, the interruptions in the sound output have stopped. Also, Jack has benefited as it runs with less resources..! Please remove all dependencies on pulseaudio from all forthcoming 64 bit versions of openSUSE.
