https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=480379 Summary: kinternet & wlan configured as `manual start' Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: x86 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: wl@gnu.org QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; de; rv:1.9.0.6) Gecko/2009012700 SUSE/3.0.6-1.4 Firefox/3.0.6 [using iwl3945] [using kinternet 0.75-220.75] I've configured with yast so that `wlan0' will be started manually. Assume that wlan has not been started yet. In kinternet, If I select `wlan0' as the interface, then Wireless Connections->Scan for Wireless Networks, then pressing `Start Active Scan', no results are shown. I consider this a bug, expecting that kinternet automatically triggers a wake-up of wlan0. In the next try, I simply do a dial-in (to an incorrect host just to activate the connection) followed by a dial-out. Now `Start Active Scan' gives a result. BTW, I'm using KDE 4.2; is there something `better' than kinternet, probably using KDE 4 libraries? And finally: I regularly get crashes from kinternet (which I can often repeat); however kcrash isn't called, even if I call kinternet manually on the command line. How shall I report a backtrace or something similar?
