Further tries revealed, that adding "--scdaemon-programm /usr/bin/scdaemon" did
NOT fully solve this issue! It has happened again, that the openPGP card was
not detected. Tries showed that it may have to do with the starting process of
gpg-agent.
This has now helped now:
1.) Kill running gpg-agent
/sbin/killproc /usr/bin/gpg-agent
2.) Start gpg-agent again in a shell under X:
eval $(gpg-agent --daemon)
and now try again: gpg --card-status and it worked!
So, the fault may be a wrong invocation of gpg-agent in
/etc/X11/xdm/sys.xsession
It is not, as I first thought, the lack of the option "--scdaemon-program"
