The patch is wrong:

- add code to check if the generic (acpi) video module handles
brightness changes directly (brightness_in_hardware)
However, setting laptop_panel.brightness_in_hardware depending on the module
parameter brightness_switch_enabled of the acpi_video module does not make
sence. The module will only make use of the parameter if able to. For instance,
a button press event coming through the input layer might not pass the
acpi_video code at all, so it's not possible for the module to take any action,
however, the brightness needs to be set nonetheless.
The right solution is to create FDI file entries for the machines mentioned in
this bug report. Moving to openSUSE 11.2
