https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=471731 Summary: NFS Installation Not Possible if no DHCP Services Exist. Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: alpha096@virginbroadband.com.au QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-GB; rv:1.9.0.5) Gecko/2008121300 SUSE/3.0.5-0.1 Firefox/3.0.5 An NFS Installation will fail to find the NFS Server IF NO DHCP Services exist as it assumes the client will be assigned an IP via DHCP. It is not possible to configure Static IP of an NFS Client as the NFS Installation GUI Screen is inadequate. It asks for NFS Server IP and Exported Directory - The assumption is that the Client will be allocated an IP by DHCP. If the NFS GUI installation fails because of NO DHCP Services the GUI will revert to text Installation and the text Installation will fail as the NFS Installation cannot successfully be configured with a static IP despite the text Installation providing the fields for a static IP. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Attempt an NFS installation with defaults without DHCP Services 2.Attempt an NFS Installation where DHCP Services exist and user specifies static IP in Text Install 3.Attempt an NFS GUI Installation. Actual Results: Client PC will not be able to perform an NFS Installation as NO IP can be configured or allocated to the client Expected Results: Installation can be performed by NFS Please test NFS installation in all options of GUI/TEXT/NO DHCP Services/Static IP Assignment and other options. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
