No, libzypp does not write to stderr (and does not execute cat) and also all
repo2solv calls have stderr redirected. If they'd fail or write to stderr, we
should at least see something in the logs.
Trying to figure out where the 'cat' might come from, I'd try to fake cat to
get some info about the caller. Something like:
# copy the cat binary
cp /bin/cat /bin/cat.bin
# create a cat.sh shellscript
touch /bin/cat.sh
chmod 755 /bin/cat.sh
---[cat.sh]---
#! /bin/bash
ps axlf >>/tmp/catlog 2>&1
cat.bin "$@" || {
RET=$?
echo "FAILED CAT $$: $RET" >>/tmp/catlog 2>&1
exit $RET
}
--------------
# finaly link cat to execute the script
rm /bin/cat; ln -s cat.sh /bin/cat
Brute force, but one might at least find out the locations that execute 'cat'.
