https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=469199 Summary: OpenOffice desktop icon calling oofromtemplate fails to lauch with "Failted to change to directory '$HOME'" Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Final Platform: All OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: OpenOffice.org AssignedTo: kyu@novell.com ReportedBy: kwwSecAlert@wowway.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.0.5) Gecko/2008121300 SUSE/3.0.5-0.1 Firefox/3.0.5 The standard 'Office' icon on my (Gnome) desktop fails to work. If tails with this error message: =========================== There was an error launching the application. Details: Failed to change to directory '$HOME' (No such file or directory) =========================== The file $HOME/Office.desktop contains this relevant info: ======== [Desktop Entry] Version=1.0 .. Exec=oofromtemplate .. Path=$HOME Type=Application .. ========= The problem appears to be that it is not correctly substituting $HOME in Office.desktop. Using '~' instead of '$HOME' does not work either. In both cases, I confirmed that /usr/bin/oofromtemplate is never called. However, if I replace 'Path=$HOME' in Office.desktop with 'Path=/home/kevin', then everything works. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Make sure your $HOME/Desktop/Office.desktop appears as described above. 2. Login using Gnome. 3. Double-click on the 'Office' icon. 4. Observe the error message. Actual Results: Produced pop-up error dialog box with error message described in "Details" section, above. Expected Results: That /usr/bin/oofromtemplate is actually executed. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
