--- Comment #4 from Markus Koßmann 2009-01-24 09:59:27 MST ---
More information Ive now started the bad kernel with a serial console attached
and debug and hpet64 enabled. The captured bootlog shows :
[...]
hpet timer0 does not support 64-bit mode
[...]
So it tries not to use the 64 bit timer0
But it crashed finally :
tbxface-0596 [00] tb_load_namespace : ACPI Tables successfully acquired
evxfevnt-0091 [00] enable : Transition to ACPI mode successful
Setting APIC routing to flat
.TIMER: vector=0x30 apic1=0 pin1=2 apic2=-1 pin2=-1
.MP-BIOS bug: 8254 timer not connected to IO-APIC
..trying to set up timer (IRQ0) through the 8259A ...
.... (found apic 0 pin 2) ...
...... failed.
..trying to set up timer as Virtual Wire IRQ...
.... failed.
..trying to set up timer as ExtINT IRQ...
.... failed :(.
Kernel panic - not syncing: IO-APIC + timer doesn't work! Boot with apic=debug
and send a report. Then try booti
ng with t.
