The same here with my DELL Dimension 8200.
The relevant lines in my boot.msg read as follows:

Trying manual resume from /dev/md0
resume device /dev/md0 not found (ignoring)
Trying manual resume from /dev/md0
resume device /dev/md0 not found (ignoring)
Waiting for device /dev/md1 to appear: ok
invalid root filesystem -- exiting to /bin/sh
$

Here I have to hit Ctrl+D (or type "exit" followed by <ENTER>) to continue
booting.
