https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=468815 Summary: randomly choose of twm, icewm or kdm as session manager when UserList and PreselectUser are disabled in kdmrc Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE3 AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: sgeipel@fhvr-aiv.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; de; rv:1.9.0.5) Gecko/2008120122 Firefox/3.0.5 I installed the KDE3.5 as only desktop environment (no GNOME, no KDE4). When user logs in, the session manager is sometimes TWM or IceWM and not everytime KDM as ist should. I tried to find the reason for this and I think it must be the change of /usr/share/kde4/config/kdm/kdmrc. There I changed default behavior of UserList=true to false in section [X-*-Greeter] and commented out PreselectUser=Previous in section [X-:*-Greeter] cause default for this is "None". Without these changes the desktop environment is kdm as it should. (/etc/sysconfig/displaymanager says: DISPLAYMANAGER="kdm") Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install openSuSE 11.1 without gnome and KDE4 2. change /usr/share/kde4/config/kdm/kdmrc to not display user list (UserList=false) and not preselect last user with PreselectUser=None (or comment out all PreselectUser) 3. login with some user accounts Actual Results: For some users the session manager is Twm for others IceWM or KDM. Expected Results: Should use kdm everytime. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
