I'm not a network expert either, I just tried to copy what I did in Windows:
1st Network Notebook - WDSharespace with fixed IP addresses
2nd Network Notebook - Wireless AP with DHCP
I can access both networks separately without problem ( I think of it as two
doors into my room) , although I choose the same ip range and netmask. (subnet
was probably not the correct description here, sorry)
I also can simply select both and bridge them, thus other people on my
workgroup can access the network storage through my Notebook via the AP
