I'd like to reopen the bug, as many people seen to be affected. There are
plenty of examples on the net.
I can add the following info: the hard freeze happens only in X, and has
nothing to do with overheating. Just to let the computer idling around freezes
it within 5 minutes to 2 hours. A strange but confirmed workaround is to plug
in any USB device. In my case, a simple memory stick suffice to let the machine
go without any freeze. Some combinations of kernels and i810 drivers seem to
work on other distributions like gutsy and opensuse 9.
I added the relevant xorg.0.log.
Hope that helps for further investigation.
