console output for kernel-xen boot, with iommu=force
changing,
- showopts elevator=cfq iommu=soft irqpoll mem=4G \
+ showopts elevator=cfq iommu=force irqpoll \
then booting, console shows,
...
-> Your BIOS doesn't leave a aperture memory hole
Please enable the IOMMU option in the BIOS setup
This costs you 64 MB of RAM
Mapping aperture over 65536 KB of RAM @ 20000000
...
which is the reason I was told, @ MSI, to enable iommu-soft in the first place,
since, according to MSI, my mobo does NOT support iommeu ...
but I also now see,
...
PCI-DMA: Disabling AGP.
PCI-DMA: aperture base @ 20000000 size 65536 KB
PCI-DMA: using GART IOMMU.
PCI-DMA: Reserving 64MB of IOMMU area in the AGP aperture

which looks, promising, and ... boot completes.

similarly changing for kernel-xen boot,
- showopts splash=silent selinux=0 elevator=cfq iommu=soft irqpoll mem=4G \
- showopts splash=silent selinux=0 elevator=cfq iommu=force irqpoll \
then on
reboot
i see some xen-specific messaging @ console (attachment), but the system
completely boots,
