When I plugged in this stick under openSUSE 11.0, a popup appeared in KDE, nitifying me about the new storage device, nd then I was able to browse it in konqueror, amongst the storege devices for example. Now, with openSUSE 11.1, this stick is invisible for both KDE3 and KDE4, I had to mount it manually. I have another identical USB stick, which is not bootable (and has a different partition table), and that one works, as it has to. dmesg output is identical for the two devices: usb 1-6: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 10 usb 1-6: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice scsi11 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices usb 1-6: New USB device found, idVendor=0951, idProduct=1600 usb 1-6: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3 usb 1-6: Product: DataTraveler II usb 1-6: Manufacturer: Kingston usb 1-6: SerialNumber: 5B721B818B1D usb-storage: device found at 10 usb-storage: waiting for device to settle before scanning scsi 11:0:0:0: Direct-Access Kingston DataTraveler II PMAP PQ: 0 ANSI: 0 CCS sd 11:0:0:0: [sdb] 4029440 512-byte hardware sectors: (2.06GB/1.92GiB) sd 11:0:0:0: [sdb] Write Protect is off sd 11:0:0:0: [sdb] Mode Sense: 23 00 00 00 sd 11:0:0:0: [sdb] Assuming drive cache: write through sd 11:0:0:0: [sdb] 4029440 512-byte hardware sectors: (2.06GB/1.92GiB) sd 11:0:0:0: [sdb] Write Protect is off sd 11:0:0:0: [sdb] Mode Sense: 23 00 00 00 sd 11:0:0:0: [sdb] Assuming drive cache: write through sdb: sdb1 sd 11:0:0:0: [sdb] Attached SCSI removable disk sd 11:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg2 type 0 usb-storage: device scan complete But partition tables are different. This is the partition table of the bootable one: Disk /dev/sdb: 2063 MB, 2063073280 bytes 64 heads, 62 sectors/track, 1015 cylinders Units = cylinders of 3968 * 512 = 2031616 bytes Disk identifier: 0x5a7549c7 Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sdb1 * 1 1015 2013729 c W95 FAT32 (LBA) And this is the partition table of the non-bootable (correctly working) one: Disk /dev/sdb: 2063 MB, 2063073280 bytes 16 heads, 32 sectors/track, 7870 cylinders Units = cylinders of 512 * 512 = 262144 bytes Disk identifier: 0xeeb47b32 Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sdb1 * 1 7870 2014704 e W95 FAT16 (LBA) What may be the reason of this problem? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create a BT+ USB stick this way: http://forums.remote-exploit.org/archive/index.php/t-6514.html 2. Plug it in under openSUSE 11.1 Actual Results: It should be shown in the desktop environments. Expected Results: It shows no signs of existence (at least under KDEs). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
