https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=465359 Summary: additional parameter in sysconfig/mysql Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: unspecified Platform: Other OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: hwit@a-domani.nl QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.0) Gecko/2008051400 SUSE/3.0-4.2 Firefox/3.0 Build Identifier: since 11.1 the file /etc/sysconfig/mysql is read during startup of this server. It would be a nice enhancement if in this configuration file there would be a variable with the name "datadir". Currently, in the startup-script /etc/rc.d/mysql, this variable already exists, and is fixed with the value "/var/lib/mysql". At my employer, we are forced to follow the UNIX-FSH strictly, so during installation we have to move Mysql-data to "/srv/mysql/... Currently i do this by editing /etc/rc.d/mysql, but at every patch, this file get overwritten. (and it's not nice to edit this file for this purpose) Hence my request to be able to set the mysql-data-directory in /etc/sysconfig/mysql. This enhancement should have no implications for default (var/lib/mysql) configurations.
