https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=465193 Summary: booting: do not set timeout for entering password for encrypted partition Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: bluedzins@wp.pl QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- booting: do not set timeout for entering password for encrypted partition I set an encrypted partition and I set it to be mounted in boot time. It was done on purpose. But thanks to timeout for entering the password, when I boot the computer up I cannot turn it on and do something else, like without any encryption, I have to stare at monitor and waste my time. If I don't computer will boot up with unmounted partition. So -- wait for the password for encrypted partition (even for _eternity). Computers have time, humans don't. Reason: a) user has better things to do than just sit next to computer waiting for entering passwords b) if booting up without mounted partition made any sense user would set up it to be NOT mounted at boot time, wouldn't she/he? not mentioning it would be more comfortable If user set partition to be mounted in boot time, she/he had a good reason for it -- if so, respect user will. After all, computer should wait for human, not other way. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
