After installing os11.1 from scratch (DVD) I ventured to edit /boot/grub/menu.lst with yast2. While no error was indicated, after reboot I get an error from the boot loader stating Error: No Operating System Operating System not found. Trying to fix things with the Repair System option from the DVD results in: 1. Boot installed System Yast2 message box saying: "No Linux root partition found" OK 2. Install new boot loader Yast2 message box saying: "No valid root partition found. Go back and select all scan options. Afterwards restart scanning." OK 3. Recover lost partitions Yast2 message saying: "Search for lost partitions. This can take... HD: /dev/sda No partitions found" While this may be worth more than one bug I keep it together for the time being for clarity. The system has a SAMSUNG 250GB sata disk which is partitioned in 2 primary partitions and an extended one containing multiple logical partitions. Both primary partitions are NTFS an can be booted to from an NTFS boot floppy. The logical partitions are /, /home, /swap and a few more NTFS partitions. The boot sector seems OK partition table wise and boot loader, only the target it points to for grub is corrupted. I can access the rest from within windows fine, so disk is OK as well.
