As I am currently travelling without proper Internet access, here is just a
short reply before I can perform the tests as requested.

However, my replies to questions:

1) I recall I needed all relevant sliders above 90% to hear anything on both
the built-in speakers or analog headphones.

2) I will uninstall "alsa-driver-unstable-kmp". However, I must emphasize that
I have not much knowledge about these tings as just did as recommend in the
Suse-Forum (linked in first comment).

Of course, I do not know which step solved the problem, but in the end I had
tested twice (including reboot) that without "dell-m4-2", the line-in becomes
unusable.

I do not really understand the scale issue, but if this is not a bug, then
according to the forums it is still a "problem" for more people...
