https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=464869 Summary: SuSEconfig.postfix causes DNS lookup Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: varkoly@novell.com ReportedBy: lnussel@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Development bug 460442 reminded me that there still is a hostname -f call in SuSEconfig.postfix. That call should be removed as it does more harm than good IMO. Many client setups where this script is also run on each software installation do not have a proper DNS setup (think of laptops in a public wlan) so this only causes a unsucessful DNS lookups or ones that even return wrong data. /etc/HOSTNAME should be used to get the fqdn only. I think it's fair to assume that a system configured as mail server has the host name and domain properly configured there. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
