https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=462621 Summary: Undefined video mode number: 317 Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: x86 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: abockover@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Testing an MSi Wind Notebook, I get a message just after the initrd message when booting: Probing EDD (edd=off to disable)... ok Undefined video mode number: 317 Press <ENTER> to see video modes available, <SPACE> to continue, or wait 30 sec If I press space, I see a number of modes. Choosing 9 (Mode=315, Resolution=800x600x32, Type=VESA) is the best option, but then it appears to boot in text mode (no cute framebuffer splash). The screen is 1024x600 (it's a netbook, of course). I'd consider this pretty important to fix as an online update for 11.1 as there's a 30 second boot delay if the user does't/is afraid to interact with the video mode prompt. It also makes openSUSE look ugly. I did not have this issue with SLED 11 RC1, so we should have a fix floating around. I have also seen this issue with the Lenovo S10e. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
