https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=462462 Summary: With Compiz enabled under Gnome, launching Gimp freezes the X server. Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Compiz AssignedTo: bnc-team-compiz@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: mason@blisses.org QAContact: bperry@novell.com Found By: Customer This is reproducible for me, although I haven't tested variations as yet. I'm running openSUSE 11.1, installed using the net installer disk. I'm running Gnome, and I've got an nVidia 8500GT video card. I haven't verified whether or not the method of launch matters - if it matters, I'll verify this tonight and add a note to the ticket - but I right-clicked on an .svg file and selected Open With -> GIMP to launch GIMP. Gimp would bring up a couple toolbar windows to either side of the screen, and then the window in which the image I wished to load was to appear. The window looked a bit fuzzy, perhaps, and at that point, the X server became largely unresponsive. However, the mouse could still move. In this state, I was able to log into the box via ssh. Killing the gimp process didn't restore the GUI to a working state, and the GIMP windows remained on-screen, unchanged. Restarting the system of course cleared the broken state. I didn't try just restarting the X server, but I can try that tonight if the bug can't be reproduced. Turning Compiz off eliminated the interface lock-up. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
