https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=447211 Summary: kinternet and smpppd tried to be downloaded from network Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Beta 5 Platform: x86 OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: martin.konopka@stuba.sk QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Community User my system: openSUSE 11.1 beta5, KDE4, x86 my network device: Option GlobeTrotter Express 7.2 datacard (needs to be switched from storage regime to modem regime) For mobile networking with such a datacard one needs (at least on beta5) to deactivate NetworkManager and use the traditional ifup method. When I tried to do this I first got a message that I must install kinternet and smpppd. I agreed to install these programs but got an error that some files on internet openSUSE repositories can not be accessed. Finally however (after many "Skip" and "Abort") I succesfully installed the programs just from the installation DVD. I suggest to configure the installation of kinternet and smpppd to be done directly from the media (if correspondiong repository is configured). In the kind of situation like I am describing it is in priciple not possible to download kinternet and smpppd from network because the network is not working yet. The network can be started only after these pieces of software are installed. The packages are present on the media anyway so it is useless to try (in vain) to download them. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
