https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=442648 Summary: impossible to install proprietary NVIDIA drivers Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Beta4 Platform: i586 OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: danielstefanmader@web.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- It seems impossible to install the proprietary NVidia drivers, at least on Beta3, Beta4, and Beta4plus. There is currently no repository for the installation via package management, so I was trying a manual installation. Reason for that is: nv driver is incapable of twinview/dualhead setup, and nouveau as it was included in http://download.opensuse.org/factory/repo/oss/ won't be included in the final product (and has serious performance issues, too, with some windows open). The recommended certified and driver 177 for GeForce GX 5200 from the nvidia download page complains about a non-supported GPU (so the download page is flawed, too), and the legacy driver 173 won't compile at all. The beta driver also won't work. I don't know what the reason for this is, but I find it very important to be able to use the proprietary drivers until the free ones are usable. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
