https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=441557 Summary: openSUSE Updater: Can't install optional upgrades Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Final Platform: 32bit OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Update Problems AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: alexander.buchner@gmx.de QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- I've added the VideoLan Repository (http://download.videolan.org/pub/videolan/vlc/SuSE/11.0/) and opensuseupdater-kde notifies me that there are software updates available. I click on the symbol next to the clock, then "Details". Then I select at least one package, so that the "Install"-button is activated, click it and then I get the following error message: openSUSE Updater No protocol specified kdesu: cannot connect to X server :0.0 which I can only accept with the "OK"-button. I think that normally I should be asked for the root password to install the software but I'm not. Am I right that the error message means that the window with the root's password question cannot be drawn? P.S.: It may be something simple because I'm not an Linux expert. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
