Ok, so some of the driver modules that are loaded in the full boot or the X
server are preventing suspend (or more correct: resume) from working.
I'd try unloading a as many modules as possible manually before suspending from
X and see if this helps.
If it helps, you "only" need to find out, which one of those modules is the
culprit.
Another option would be to try the current 11.1 beta or at least the kernel
from the current beta, since many suspend fixes have gone into the kernel since
11.0...
Can you try to unload as many modules as possible?
