https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=437003 Summary: mask and mode settings in smb.conf confuses client file permissions Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Beta 2 Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Samba AssignedTo: samba-maintainers@SuSE.de ReportedBy: danielstefanmader@web.de QAContact: samba-maintainers@SuSE.de Found By: --- We have a SLES 10 SP2 server which uses certain masks in order to ensure certain file permissions upon client write access. This works beautifully. Yet, it is not possible to check the permissions on a Samba share from a client since all permissions are confused: drwxrwxrwx 7 mader optiker 0 2008-10-06 12:09 typicalFolder -rwxrwSrwx 1 mader optiker 563315 2008-07-31 16:18 typicalFile We don't want to use ACLs since this would introduce more complexity to the setup. Furthermore, certain basic Linux tools still don't work properly with ACLs (such as mv). The file permissions should be transparent to the clients, be it a shell or some graphical filemanager. Also, the issue is the same ever since openSUSE 10.2, at least. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
