https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=436797 Summary: YaST2 security module: incorrect description of "basic system services in runlevel 3" Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Beta 3 Platform: i586 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: gp@novell.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: Product Management The description of the item "Enable basic system services in runlevel 3" currently reads: ┌────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┐ │Basic system services must be enabled to provide system consistency │ │and to run the security related services. │ │ │ │These basic system services are not running: │ │ntp │ │consolekit │ │postfix │ │sendmail │ │ │ └────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘ This is not correct on two accounts: 1. consolekit is actually running on my machine. I suspect YaST does not actually check what exactly is running (which would be a nice improvement)? 2. postfix and sendmail are alternatives, where current verbage suggests both need to run. As I noted under 1, it would be great to dynamically check which of these may actually be running already. If we have to go for a static text, I recommend something like the following replacement: ┌────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┐ │The following basic system services must be enabled to provide │ │system consistency and to run the security related services: │ │ │ │ ntp │ │ consolekit │ │ postfix or sendmail │ │ │ │Not all of these system services are currently running. │ │ │ └────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘ -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
