What "vendor"? You mean ids starting with "ata-"?

Yeah, the picture has changed in the last 1.5 years. With the plan to move libata in the kernel out of the SCSI stack, we will have native "ata" devices again. The kernel device names will stay as /dev/sd*, but all the other stuff will look different. Until now you can tell from the name which subsystem created a block device (sd, hd), that will not be possible in the future. Running scsi_id on native ata devices will not make much sense.
