Didn't sensors-detect warn you that the modules in question were missing?
The kernel package has recently been split in 3 parts, a base package for
virtual machines, a standard package with all the drivers that are supported by
Novell, and an extra package for all the unsupported drivers. It happens that
none of the hwmon drivers are supported by Novell, so they are in the extra
package which doesn't get installed automatically on upgrade.
Installing kernel-default-extra should solve your problem.
We could make the "sensors" package depend on (or at least recommend)
kernel-$flavor-extra. This approach has two problems though. First problem is
that some hwmon drivers may become supported at some point in time, so for some
systems this requirement may not apply. In fact we already have one such driver
(the generic thermal zones driver.) Second problem is that there are several
kernel-$flavor-extra packages and I'm not sure how to express that kind of
dependency in rpm.
Alternatively, we could locally modify the sensors-detect script to suggest
installing the missing kernel package.
Andreas, do you have suggestions on how to proceed?
