https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=431714 Summary: mkinitrd copies symlinks to initrd -> unbootable Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Final Platform: x86 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Bootloader AssignedTo: jsrain@novell.com ReportedBy: joerg.pareigis@eon-is.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: Customer After upgrade my system from OpenSuse10 to 11 the boot-process hangs at the time the udevd should create the deviceses for sda1 2 3 and so on. I needed a couple of hours to find the reason: At my old system exists symlinks: /sbin/mount -> /bin/mount /sbin/umount -> /bin/umount /sbin/cat -> /bin/cat mkinitrd does copied this symlinks to the initrd, not the binaries. So in the initrd I had 3 self-linked (empty) symlinks: /bin/mount -> /bin/mount /bin/umount -> /bin/umount /bin/cat -> /bin/cat -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
