To actually answer the questions...
We do not need to releyase all KMPs with every single kernel update. They are
made for this case and genreate so called "weak symbols" when the kernel is
updated.
This does not work if:
- there is a bug
- the KMP is no longer compatible to the kernel
hmm.
on x86_64 I do
zypper in nouveau-kmp-default
and the symlinks are there.
however modprobe fails
FATAL: Error inserting nouveau
(/lib/modules/2.6.25.16-0.1-default/weak-updates/lib/modules/2.6.25.5-1.1-default/extra/nouveau.ko):
Invalid module format
and dmesg has:
nouveau: exports duplicate symbol drm_order (owned by drm)
which is probably the reason for this failure.
hub are you seeing the module in weak-updates? and if yes, what does modprobe
show?
