Hi Folks:
My team got the 1st SLES11 images this afternoon, and we're starting the
installation on our p series machines.
The installation image has 22 MB, we could get it booting by either
* Setting the real base size to 1800000
setenv real-base 1800000
* Serving yaboot as the 1st boot image - how to do that:
* you copy the dvd contents to a nfs served directory. lets say that you have
copied the contents to [root-dvd] and that the root of your tftp is
[root-tftp];
* Copy the following files:
* cp [root-dvd]/suseboot/yaboot [root-tftp]/yaboot
* [root-dvd]/suseboot/yaboot.cnf [root-tftp]/yaboot.conf
* [root-dvd]/suseboot/yaboot.txt [root-tftp]/yaboot.txt
IMPORTANT: The file that's originally named yaboot.cfg on the CD will have to
be copied either as yaboot.conf or yaboot.conf.[mac-address-of-your-nic], as in
yaboot.conf-56-03-90-00-30-03. Either will work, the variant with the mac
address is faster, because it's the 1st choice looked by yaboot. I cannot
stress
how much important is making sure that the name is correct.
If you use yaboot, you'll get a prompt like:
# yaboot downloaded 000000c7 bytes via network, download rate 0 KB/s.
#
# Welcome to !
#
# Type "install" to start the YaST installer on this CD/DVD

# boot: slp
type slp and then you'll get to the install program. Here is a full log of a

A download rate of 325 KB/s is really slow, isn't it?

I hope that was useful. I will open a new bug for sles11, and post our
'workaround' for the issue.
