https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=423666 Summary: [New Feature] Allow user to input search domains in static network configuration on linuxrc boot Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: PowerPC-64 OS/Version: SLES 10 Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: arthursv@linux.vnet.ibm.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- Created an attachment (id=237879) --> (https://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=237879) Patch to be applied in SLES 10.2 linuxrc for enhancement When booting a machine for a net install linuxrc runs a menu for configuring the network and setting the stage2 image location (FTP, NFS, etc). This patch allows the user, when setting static network configuration, to input search domains so he will not have to reference the fully qualified hostname everytime he reaches a server. Currently, linuxrc asks IP Address, netmask, gateway, nameserver and FTP,NFS,HTTP IP address only. I have made a patch for this (which is attached) in SLES 10.2. I have read the source code for opensuse 11 linuxrc rpm and apparently this still has not yet been implemented, so I can easily port this solution for X and openSuSE 11 ppc and X. So I would like to hear any comments and suggestions about this enhancement, this is my first patch proposal so I might have missed something as well. There is also an extra patch needed in stage 2 image when installing by SSH. There is a inst_setup script that rewrites the search domains in resolv.conf but it sed's only the first argument of the inputted domain. I'll make this patch and post it right away Thank you, -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
