Try to change the master volume to another value, get alsa-info.sh snapshot
(run with --no-upload option), and attach the file to here.
There should be a difference in the ac97 register there, supposedly the
register 0x02. If the value is changed but still no sound changes, it means
that the hardware doesn't support it.
C-Media AC97 chip often "fakes" as if it supports the volume control although
it doesn't. In such a case, it's a hardware limitation.
