For me the bt stereo headphones (cambridge silicon radio) works on IBM Thinkpad
X31. The solution is specific to ALSA sound system and some players. Amarok and
Kaffeine are OK.
So. Here it is. It will not take long.
1. check the address of the headphones.
# hcitool scan
2. pair the headphone with your computer (if did not do so earlier) and check
if the device is paired. kbluetooth should ask and pair/attach on demand but,
if it does not work you can use "blueman - Bluetooth Manager for GNOME Desktop"
but, in this case you will install all the GNOME stuff, so think twice.
3. create file asoundrc in your home directory ( or add this pcm.bluetooth
paragraph to the existing one)
# cat .asoundrc
pcm.bluetooth {
type bluetooth
device 00:1B:41:00:06:11
}
NOTE: CHANGE THE DEVICE ADDRESS IN THIS EXAMPLE (00:1B:41:00:06:11) FOR THE
ADDRESS OF YOUR HEADPHONE
3. set amarok audio output
Amarok configuration -> Engine -> Select: "alsa"
replace "default" with "bluetooth" in either "mono" or "stereo" field
4. and try to play something (for example "Badly Drawn Boy - Disillusion")
Here is the list of the supported players:
http://wiki.bluez.org/wiki/HOWTO/AudioDevices#SupportedPlayers
And here is the detailed instruction for the sound on bt.

Have fun,
