Hi,
while the IERR-Message visible on the front panel lcd of the dell is not
originated from any openSUSE (or linux in general) software, i guess it
nonetheless states that there is something seriously wrong in some
cpu-accessing code, and that the system will be halted to prevent
hardware-damage... I will call my dell support and let him explain to me what
action will trigger this exact error code, but i do not have much hope about
getting any interesting information from dell-support..
to clarify my environment, here are some more informations:
i use the latest available 11.0-versions of all packages on the system (just
used online-update to make sure everything is updated just before my testing)
so, the xen-versions are like:
xen-libs-3.2.1_16881_04-4.2
kernel-xen-2.6.25.11-0.1
xen-tools-3.2.1_16881_04-4.2
xen-3.2.1_16881_04-4.2
kqemu-kmp-xen-1.3.0pre11_2.6.25.5_1.1-7.1
i tried with and without the kqemu-kmp-xen-1.3-thing, as i do not know exactly
if this is neccessary.
i tried to put the kernel-boot-commands mentioned in my first post on either
the first or the second line, and there does not seem to be much difference at
all. but i am certain that i missed the exact difference as i do not know
exactly for what to look for...
i also attached my "normal-kernel" loaded modules (i guess this is the output
of lsmod) so that you can make recommendations for me.
i can not find broadcom b44, bcm43xx, bcm44xx or similar module in the
lsmod-output, so i guess it is not loaded during normal kernel boot?
by the way: disabling a driver will be done by putting it in
/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist?
i will come back with more informations (boot-log etc) as soon as i have found
out how to get minicom on my second pc working ...
thanks, regards,
Stefan Schueffler
