https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=404448 Summary: lib boost::filesystem cannot be used for development on Suse 11.0 Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Development AssignedTo: pth@novell.com ReportedBy: inglor@seznam.cz QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Customer The version 1.34.1 of lib boost cannot be used with GCC (G++) 4.3.1 to develop programs. GCC 4.3 and newer will not parse the libboost headers correctly and, consequently, will not compile anything that uses, for example, boost/filesystem/path.hpp The fact that lib boost 1.34.1 cannot be used with GCC 4.3 is a known problem in the lib boost community. Lib boost 1.35.0 is the latest published version, and it does not work with GCC 4.3 either (I tried to download it and compile it manually). The next version, 1.35.1, should be compatible with GCC 4.3. Unfortunately, this issue stopped one of my C++ projects (which uses boost::filesystem) from further development. A possible remedy could be to provide packages with GCC 4.2 for openSUSE 11.0 users until Lib boost 1.35.1 is released, and then provide 1.35.1. I suggest that even the future 1.35.1 version should be tested a bit against example code pieces from libboost site, before releasing it through Online update. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
